Our Cosplay Competition is pirate-themed, with judging being based on Originality, Craftsmanship, and Character Personality. To sign up, message our ModMail on our Discord Server. Please make sure you have read the below information prior to signing up.
Prizes will be announced at a later date. All participants will receive a SoTFest 2026 Cosplay Competition Certificate
Cosplay Registration is available via our Discord Server ModMail bot or, if spaces allow, in-person at SoTFest 2026. There is no fee to take part in the competition. On the day, competitors will be assigned a 'line-up' number, this is the order you will go on stage to showcase your cosplay. All minors must have a parent/guardian present to approve their registration/check-in. You must have a SoTFest 2026 ticket that allows access to the Saturday of SoTFest 2026.
Competitors must stay for the duration of the contest, and be present to receive thier prize. Each competitor can only enter one costume in the competition. SoTFest 2026 is a family-friendly event, so offensive language, excessive violence, sexual activity/contact (real or implied), nudity or political/religious statments are not allowed. Anyone who violates these rules will be disqualified from the Cosplay Competition and may be removed from the event entirely.
The Cosplay Competition is on a first come, first serve basis. We reserve the right to limit the number of participants and to pre-judge competitors to maintain our schedule.
Will there be a diressing room available?Yes; we will release information about the dressing room in the near future.
Is it alright if my costume is slightly revealing?Please remeber that the event is family-friendly, and there will be children in attendance. Wearing any cosplay that is more revealing than a bathing suit or could be classified as undergarments may result in actions taken. This could be anything from you changing clothes into something more appropriate, to you being removed from the event.
Can I bring props that look like real weapons?On-site security may refuse entry or confiscate anything they believe could pose a threat to the security of the event or the safety of everyone. Both the on-site security team and the SoTFest organisers reserve the right to confiscate any props or remove you from the event if it is deemed nessecary.
What type of props can I have?Other than your costume itself, it is recommended that any additional props are made out of foam. Props made of foam may still be confiscated it if deemed nessecary.
Where can I stop to have my picture taken?We allow photos to be taken anywhere within the event spaces; however, there will be designated photowalls designed for you to have your picture taken
Can I tell people to not take a photo of me?SoTFest can not guarentee you will not be photographed, but you may ask people to not take pictures of you. Taking part in the Cosplay Competition will put you on the SoTFest Twitch Stream. If you do not want to appear on the stream, you should not register for the competition. If you wish to not show up on the official SoTFest social pages, such as Facebook, X (formally Twitter), BlueSky, Discord, etc, please contact ModMail on our Discord server
